My paintings are about joy, magic, and spontaneity.

They comprise a personal iconography and palette that I’ve developed over the years. I’m interested in the balance between pure abstraction and symbolism, and try to achieve that in my work. I love color, texture, and pattern; paint and collage give me the greatest flexibility to work with those elements. I hope that my paintings arouse curiosity, and that viewers have fun with and enjoy the possibilities in my art work.

I grew up in southern California, the daughter of an artist mother and film producer father. I was introduced to art at an early age, spending hours in art museums and galleries.

After earning a BFA in printmaking and painting from the Memphis College of Art and an MFA in printmaking from the University of Oregon, I began making art professionally in 1976.
